What Day Is It?

encouragement Jun 24, 2019

Do you know what day it is?

When I woke up this morning, I looked at the calendar and noticed the date was June 24th, 2019.  This is the date according to the "Gregorian Calendar" which most of the Western Civilization plans their days by.  According to the days of the week, it's Monday.  It's the day on which I try to make appointments, plan out events for the week, and get my laundry done.

But what day is it, really?

"This is the day that the Lord has made."

This day is a gift from Him.  A day that we are "to rejoice and be glad in Him."  That means we are to realize that God is and that He has a wonderful plan for us TODAY no matter how the circumstances look.

Somedays, it is hard to rejoice.  Some days I just groan and ask God to just keep me alive so that I can find a more comfortable tomorrow.  Sometimes I just have to keep saying this over and over:  "God loves me and has a wonderful plan for my life".  What I see is temporary; God's love and power are forever. Those hard days are hard to appreciate or rejoice over.

And, this is the day in which I need to be about the Father's business:

  • I need to demonstrate God's love and compassion to others.
  • I need to declare His Truth.
  • I need to act in my area of influence to establish justice, mercy, and freedom for all.
  • I need to celebrate and worship God.

There are other days we need to remember:  The first is the "and in that day"...The day God has appointed to use you for His purpose; a day that you get to reveal God's love and power to someone else.   One of the ways I have been able to hang onto God on the hard days is by remembering His promise of "and in that day."  He promised to make me a blessing;  He promised to show me great things.  He doesn't lie!

Another day we all will see is the day when Jesus returns, or the day He calls us home.  Are you ready for that day?
